TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The following terms and conditions have been developed to ensure your visit/booking run smoothly and safely. By making payment to Franklin Farm for general entry or private field hire, you will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions of entry. Please refer to these terms to ensure you are aware of your responsibilities while at Franklin Farm Sunflower Fields and Butterfly House.

Visitors have a responsibility to take care that their actions don’t put themselves or others at risk. ALL VISITORS must comply with the health and safety guidelines set by Franklin Farm Limited to ensure the health and safety of everyone here at the Sunflower fields and Butterfly House. We are a working farm, and you enter at your own risk. Please be aware of moving farm machinery in other parts of the farm, so please do not go out of the taped/fenced areas.

GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR ALL VISITORS      

1. You may pick sunflowers during your visit, these are charged at $3 a stem, or 4 stems for $10. Please see a staff member at the entrance to pay for these after your visit in the field. Alternatively, you can buy pre cut flowers before or at the end of your visit. Please bring cash or a card for this. You will be charged per stem if you are found breaking any in the field without reason, or cutting and dropping/dumping flowers. Please only pick what you intend to use or keep.

2. Secateurs (strong cutters) are available to hire from staff at the entrance to the fields if you want to cut your own sunflowers but forgot your cutters. These can be hired for $15, and ($5 hire and $10 bond) $10 will be refunded upon the return of the cutters in good working order if no flowers have been picked, or put towards what has been picked.

 

3. Any person found to be posing a threat to their own safety or others, damaging property, venturing into taped off farm areas or littering at Franklin Farm may be asked to leave and charged for damages. A cleaning fee of $50 will be charged to the visitor/s if the site is not left as found (ie rubbish, cigarette butts etc). Any visitors found damaging property in anyway will be required to pay for the full repair/replacement.

4. Visitors accept and understand the possible risks of visiting Franklin Farm, such as but not limited to, injury, uneven terrain, inclement weather, other farm users. Franklin Farm Limited is not responsible for the loss or damage to any of the visitors property in or around the fields, nor are they liable for any injury. 

 

5. Franklin Farm will have a first aid kit available at the entrance area, and cream for bee stings. Please consider refraining from visiting Franklin Farm if you have a severe allergy to bees. We do not have epipens on site. Franklin Farm Ltd are not liable for anyone who suffers a severe allergic reaction while visiting the farm, and you enter at your own risk. No refunds will be given during open days if it rains.

6. Whilst all care and attention is given to keep you safe, Franklin Farm, and its staff will not assume or accept any liability or responsibility for any claim, loss, damage, personal injury, loss or damage to any personal equipment, inconvenience, costs and expenses, delays or irregularities of any nature occasioned by any circumstances.

7. Visitors must ensure there is a designated caregiver who is at least 18 years of age, responsible for all children 10 and under, and that children are supervised at all times. 

 

8. All visitors must not undertake any illegal activities on the farm, and refrain from using drugs or consuming excessive alcohol at Franklin Farm. All visitors understand that the fields at Franklin Farm are unlicensed premises. Smoking must be done off the farm property.

9. No animals are allowed at the Butterfly House other than guide dogs. No animals are permitted at Franklin Farm Sunflower Fields during open sessions, other than guide dogs for visually impaired individuals. Dogs are welcome during 'Doggy Fridays' at the Sunflower Fields - Friday 9am - sunset, All dogs must be on a lead at ALL times. All dog owners are required to carry poo bags, pick up their dog poo and take it home with them. Any dogs causing issues of any sort or showing aggression to other dogs will be asked to leave Franklin Farm without a refund. Two dogs reside at Franklin Farm, please do not open the gates and let them out, or lean over the fence to pat them - there is an electric fence and you will get a shock!

10. Parking: Please ensure you do not block the entrance and exit to the parking area in the paddock. During busy periods, you will be instructed by a staff member where to park. Please find overflow parking 50m up the road in the main carpark is full. 

​

11. You may find some wooden lids at the end of some of the flower fields. Please do not lift or move these, they are protecting our water hydrants underneath.  

​

12. Franklin Farm reserves the right to close the fields or butterfly house for any reason at any time. These may include but are not limited to - Covid lockdowns, emergency situations and adverse weather conditions or damage cause by weather.

13. Drones are not permitted during open days. You may use a drone during midweek, private booked sessions, but please discuss this with Franklin Farm first, and please only fly over the sunflowers and not neighbouring properties.

PRIVACY POLICY

​14. Consent to be photographed or recorded: Visitors to Franklin Farm may be photographed or videotaped by one of our employees, or a professional photographer. Your entry onto Franklin Farm serves as your permission for the use of your image by Franklin Farm. Franklin Farm may use them on our social media, website, or advertising, including, but not limited to: print publications, video streaming on our websites and/or social media, and broadcast media.

MID WEEK PRIVATE HIRE BOOKINGS/VISITORS

BOOKING POLICY 

We understand that plans may change due to illness, injury or people simply changing their minds. In turn, we ask our guests to understand that we may have turned away a number of keen people for those reserved bookings on our farm and may have incurred staffing and booking expenses.

​

15. All prices quoted are in $NZD. 1 hour field hire is $100 for up to 15 people (if you plan to bring a professional photographer to take photos of your group of 15, they may enter for free). Any additional attendees over 15 people can attend for an additional $12 per person per hour. This additional charge can be paid upon entry to the farm for your booked session, or prior your session via online banking.

 

16. Your booking will be confirmed after completing the online booking form, and once full payment has been made. All midweek visitors to Franklin Farm must have booked, paid and confirmed their session before arriving at Franklin Farm. No payment = no confirmed booking.

17. It is the booked visitor/s responsibility to make themselves familiar with Franklin Farm and the requirements of visiting. This includes cleaning requirements, parking etc. The booked visitor/s must only stay as long as they have been booked and allocated.

18. You must arrive on time for midweek booked sessions. You are welcome and encouraged to arrive early and prepare in the carpark. Please be mindful that hour long sessions can be booked back to back, and if you are late, that cuts into your session time. Please be respectful of staff and other visitors and arrive on time/early and leave on time. 

​

19. You are welcome to bring props, food, ladders etc to your booked session. Please ensure you take home everything with you, and use only your allocated 1 hour to pack up and pack down these items. 

​

20. Noise - Noise/music levels must be kept at an acceptable level out of respect for our neighbours. Failure to do so may result in the booking being stopped early.

CANCELLATION POLICY

21. We understand that sometimes life happens, and that bookings need to be cancelled or rescheduled. Franklin Farm requires cancellations or rescheduling notifications 48 hours prior to your booking for a full refund. The flower fields are in high demand, and late notification means others miss out unnecessarily. Where a booking is cancelled within 48 hours, NO REFUND will be given. 'No-shows' who fail to notify cancellation will not receive a refund or reschedule.

22. Franklin Farm reserve the right to cancel or amend any booking for any reason within or beyond our control. In the case that Franklin Farm cancels a booking, customers will be offered a full refund, or rescheduling of their booking.

​

23. Any cancellations by Franklin Farm (due to rain, or weather events that damage the fields) will result in a full refund. Any rescheduling by Franklin Farm for the same reason will ensure a full refund or transferred credit. We are pretty good at keeping an eye on the weather radar, and we will be in contact if the weather is looking questionable prior to your booking. We will do everything possible to ensure you get your special session in the fields.

24. Franklin Farm Sunflower Fields will operate while the sunflowers are blooming as long as reasonably possible. If Franklin Farm deems the sunflowers are not in good enough condition for booked clients (ie bloomed fast are all old) a full refund will be given.

BY BOOKING, AND PAYING FOR YOUR SESSION/VISIT, YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY AGREEING TO ALL THE ABOVE TERMS & CONDITIONS.
