PRIVATE FIELD HIRE

Do you want the Sunflower Fields ALL TO YOURSELF for any special reason? Think a proposal, catalogue shoot, music video or just wanting professional family photos without random people in the background?

You're in luck! We offer private, one hour booked sessions in the evenings on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm - sunset. (Yes, you can book more than a one hour session if you're needing more time!) Don't muck around though, these sessions book out fast.

Bookings are essential and can be made here. You are welcome to bring your dog to a private session or fly a drone over the sunflower fields during your private booking. For more details, click - HERE

DOGGY FRIDAYS
9AM - SUNSET EVERY FRIDAY, NO BOOKING REQUIRED

Why should humans have all the fun? Every Friday, we welcome your well-behaved, leashed fur besties to join you for a day out among the sunflowers. With wide open spaces, shady spots, and plenty of sniff-worthy paths, it’s the perfect outing for pups and their people.

There’s no extra cost — Doggy Friday is included in your regular sunflower field entry. All we ask is you follow these simple rules so everyone has an amazing, safe time.

1. Keep dogs on a lead AT ALL TIMES, and please DO NOT take your dog into the farmyard area - NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. Please bring poop bags for any 'business' (and take it home with you). If you forgot your bags, please ask at the ticket cabin, we'll have plenty spare.

3. Please only bring in friendly dogs that are easy to manage. If your dog shows any form of aggression towards anyone or any other dog, you will be asked to leave immediately. If your dog is nervous or challenging to manage, we kindly recommend booking a private, weekday evening session to yourselves.

PICK YOUR OWN SUNFLOWERS

Come and enjoy the simple pleasure of picking your own sunflowers, straight from the field. It’s a great way to spend time outdoors, take in the fresh air, and head home with the freshest flowers possible.

You're welcome to bring your own secateurs (cutters) from home, or you can hire a pair from us when you arrive.

Whether you’re picking a bunch for yourself, a gift, or just want to enjoy the experience, it’s easy and fun for all ages.

If you’d rather not pick your own, no worries — we also have pre-cut sunflower bunches ready to go in our flower cart.

FRANKLIN FARMYARD

Say hello to our new farmyard friends!

Your sunflower field entry now includes a visit to our Animal Farmyard – no extra ticket needed! While you’re out snapping photos among the blooms, be sure to wander over and meet our newest (and cutest) additions. From curious goats and cheeky lambs to gentle cows, and clucky chickens, there’s a paddock full of personalities waiting to meet you.

Bring the kids, bring your camera, and bring a little spare time – you might find it hard to leave! Guests are welcome to pat and feed certain animals (feed is available for purchase on site), and our friendly team is always nearby to help you get up close in a safe and enjoyable way. Entry to the farmyard is just inside the entry of the sunflower fields on the left.

OTHER FLOWER FIELDS

Alongside our stunning sunflower fields, we also grow seasonal patches of mustard (the yellow flower pictured), phacelia, (a beautiful, purple flower) and wildflowers to add even more colour and beauty to your visit.

These fields bloom and finish at different times throughout the season, depending on weather and growing conditions, so they’re not always guaranteed—but we do our very best to bring them to life each year with a little help from Mother Nature.

For the latest updates on what’s in bloom and when, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram before your visit.

RULES OF ENTRY

Visitors have a responsibility to take care that their actions don’t put themselves or others at risk. ALL VISITORS must comply with the health and safety guidelines set by Franklin Farm to ensure the health and safety of everyone here at the Sunflower fields.

  • Dogs are welcome on ‘Doggy Fridays’ only. No dogs or pets during ‘Open Days.' No use of drones on the farm during Open Days either. You are able to use a drone on a private booked evening session only. Dogs are also welcome on private booked sessions too.

  • No dogs are allowed into the farmyard area on any day, no exceptions. This is to keep our animals safe and stress free in the farmyard.

  • As this is a working farm, it is a multi hazard zone. Please stay inside the flower field/farmyard areas, and do not cross the taped exits/open or jump closed gates. Outside the sunflower fields machinery may be in use.

  • Shoes are a must to protect your feet. Bees love sunflowers, so please be mindful of this if you do have allergies of any sort. There is a first aid kit at the entry cabin with antihistamines and creams, but we do not recommend you enter the fields if you’re highly allergic or anaphylactic to bee stings - we do not carry epipens.

  • Please respect our flowers so that other people get to enjoy them also. You may walk amongst them and use dedicated pathways, But please TRY NOT TO STEP ON THEM. You will be charged per stem if found to be causing damage.

  • Children must stay accompanied by an adult at all times.

  • Please be mindful of pedestrians walking to and from vehicles, especially young children. 5km/hour at all times.

Have Fun, and Remember…

  • Take your own photos in the field, bring your props or a picnic, and enjoy the view! Please remember to take all your rubbish home with you.

  • There are toilets on site, please ask a staff member.

  • We have no idea how long the blooms will last, it all depends on the weather, so come along and enjoy the experience while they are here! The height and quality of the sunflowers will depend on how much warmth, rainfall and wind we have received, therefore we can only work within mother natures offerings, and cannot make any certain promises.

  • When you get your sunflowers home, cut the stems on an angle and put them into water straight away and add a teaspoon of sugar to the water. It will help your flowers to stay fresh for a bit longer.

  • If you would like to book an exclusive session with the fields all to yourself during the weekday evenings, please contact us below.

Sunflower Picking Tips

• Choose a healthy bloom – Look for sunflowers with bright yellow petals and a firm, green stem. Flowers that have just opened will last longer in a vase.
• Bring your own secateurs – We recommend bringing sharp cutters for easier picking. If you don’t have any, you can hire a pair from us on site. Because sunflowers are fiburous, you cannot snap them off.
• Cut low on the stem – Cutting lower down gives you a longer stem, which is ideal for arranging in vases at home. Try to make a clean, angled cut.
• Bring a bucket with water – If you’re travelling, placing your sunflowers in a bucket with a little water will help keep them fresh until you get home.
• Watch out for bees – Sunflowers attract bees and other pollinators. They’re generally gentle, but take care when reaching into the plants.

• Remove excess leaves – Strip off all the leaves except the top two. This helps keep the water clean in your vase and extends the life of your flowers.
